If you’ve been following me on social media, you know the importance I place on taking care of yourself. I’ve decided to share some self-care tips on my blog, where I can really expand on what to do and how helpful it can be!
One of the best ways to practice self-care is by learning a new skill. It keeps your mind sharp, raises your self-esteem, helps you cope with stress, and keeps you motivated. This is called neuroplasticity. Challenging our brains by learning a new skill, leads to actual changes by creating new connections, even in the adult brain!
Learning is forever. It keeps life interesting and there is always more to learn. Even though, I have been a hairstylist and makeup artist for over 20 years, I still learn new things every day and I’m always interested in taking classes that increase the knowledge that I already have and help push me closer to my goals. You can always get better at anything.
Taking one of my courses is an investment in yourself. It will help you reconnect with, or bring out your artistic side. It’s another way for you to express yourself, which will activate the brain’s reward center and help lower cortisol levels, which will reduce stress.
Evaluate what’s holding you back from where you want to be in life, ascertain which things you have always dreamed of doing, and take yourself on that journey.
There are so many reasons to take one of my courses. Have you struggled to learn to do your own hair and makeup? Are you artistic and need a creative outlet that can also earn money? Are you already in the industry but feel you need to brush up on your skills or looking to expand your knowledge?
As with any new skill, practicing is going to help you achieve the end goal. To be successful, in either the pro or non-pro classes, practice is key. Make time for it, especially in the first few months after you take the class. Practicing right away will give you confidence in your new skills, and you will get a lot of joy out of your new capabilities.
As an educator for over 17 years, I can tell you that if you put your mind to it, you can learn anything you want to. All it takes is dedication and a willingness to put in the work. I’ve had students who had a lot of experience and students with no experience at all. The only ones who didn’t do well were the ones with a bad attitude. Learning hair and makeup is creative and a little technical, but mostly it is a lot of practice. The courses are taught by building up on skills, starting with the most basic and building on that as we go!
If this has convinced you, click here to get started! We have hair and makeup courses for everyone. Leave a comment below with questions or comments and as always, feel free to reach out to me directly.
